When Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 5, 2026
This policy applies to When (formerly #DAYS) and related pages on alone.plus. When lets you record meaningful past or future dates, build timelines, calculate day counts, schedule reminders, and display records in iOS widgets.
Data We Process
When may store the following on your device, in its App Group container, or in your own Apple iCloud private database:
- Record names, dates, birthday types, timeline moments and their names, dates, start or end roles, and record identifiers
- Event photos you actively select and compressed images generated for app and widget display
- Display preferences for dates, per-size photo positions and scales, photo effects, and widget layouts
- Local notification preferences for event dates, ten-day and hundred-day milestones, anniversaries, and reminder times
- A global day-counting convention, including whether the event date counts as day one
- Migration backups and integrity information created on device to preserve compatibility with older app data
If you contact us by email, we use your email address, message, and any diagnostic details you provide to handle your request.
Storage and Sync
When does not require an alone.plus account and does not upload your records, photos, or reminder content to alone.plus servers.
The app uses Apple local storage, App Group storage, and your private iCloud to store events and support system-provided access and sync between the app, its widget, and your Apple devices. Your device and Apple iCloud process this data under Apple's policies and your system settings.
Notification preferences, the day-counting convention, widget caches, and migration backups are primarily device or App Group data and should not be treated as a separate cloud backup service.
Photo Access and Processing
When accesses a photo only after you actively select it. The app resizes and compresses selected photos on device for storage and display in the app and widgets. Records and timeline moments can have their own photos. Per-size widget crops and effects are stored as display settings without changing the original in your system photo library. alone.plus does not receive your photo content.
You can remove or replace an event photo while editing, or delete the event itself.
Notifications
When asks for iOS notification permission only after you enable a reminder for a record. The app schedules reminders on device using its dates, your day-counting convention, and your selected time. Reminder content is not sent to alone.plus.
iOS limits the number and timing of pending notifications. When prioritizes nearer reminders and rebuilds its pending schedule when you open the app, edit a record, or change related settings. You can change or disable reminders in a record, in When settings, or in iOS Settings.
Widget Data
When widgets read record names, dates, cached photos, and display preferences from App Group storage. Widgets do not send this data to alone.plus. iOS determines actual widget refresh timing.
Legacy Migration and Backups
To reduce the risk of data loss during an upgrade, When may create a local safety copy of an older database and related images in its App Group before migration, along with integrity verification information. The app reports the backup state after migration and can let you export the backup. This backup is not uploaded to alone.plus and does not replace your own device or iCloud backups.
Third-Party Services
When is distributed through the Apple App Store and uses Apple platform capabilities including iCloud, CloudKit, StoreKit, WidgetKit, the system photo picker, and notifications. Apple may process download, purchase, sync, system diagnostic, or analytics data under its own policies.
When currently does not include an alone.plus account system, advertising network, or third-party analytics SDK.
Purchases and Lifetime Access
When offers optional Lifetime Access only through an Apple-managed, one-time non-consumable purchase, with no auto-renewing plan. The app uses StoreKit to verify purchases and restorations and stores local entitlement status so the app and widgets can determine which Premium features are available. Apple processes payments, billing details, refunds, and purchase history; alone.plus does not receive your full payment-card details or Apple Account credentials.
Website Analytics
When you visit When-related pages on alone.plus, the production website may load Google Analytics. Default web measurement may use first-party cookies or similar identifiers and process page interactions, session statistics, approximate location, and browser or device information. We use this information to understand website traffic and improve the pages.
Website analytics is separate from the When app. The app does not contain Google Analytics and does not send your records, photos, reminders, widget data, or other in-app content to Google Analytics or alone.plus. Google handles website analytics data under the Google Privacy Policy.
Deleting and Exporting Data
You can export a safety backup of your current library and import records from a selected backup. Files may contain records, timelines, photos, and related settings. You choose where to save or share them; iCloud Drive or other services handle files under their own policies. Integrity verification does not mean a backup is encrypted. Keep backups secure. Deleting records in the app does not automatically delete earlier exports or migration backups.
You can delete records and their photos in the app. When a record is deleted, When also removes its reminder preferences and pending notifications managed by the app. If iCloud is enabled, deletion may sync to your other devices using the same Apple Account.
You may also remove related data by uninstalling the app or managing iCloud data and system backups. The exact scope depends on iOS, iCloud, App Group, and backup settings. If you contacted us by email, you may request deletion of support email records; we will handle reasonable requests.
Children's Privacy
When is a general-purpose date tracker. Its current global App Store content rating is 4+, with regional ratings in some countries or regions; check your local App Store listing. A content rating is not the age of consent for purchases or personal-data processing.
Minors should use When with a parent or guardian’s guidance and obtain consent where required by applicable law, especially for purchases, exporting or sharing personal information, and contacting support. The app does not ask for an age or account registration and does not upload records or photos to alone.plus. Parents or guardians who believe a child has sent us personal information, such as in a support email, can contact us to request assistance or deletion. Website analytics remains subject to the Website Analytics section above.
Policy Updates
If When materially changes how it handles data, we will update this page and revise the effective date.
